Black Women and Self Care: Boundaries

Self Care is something we always advocate through our conversations. One of the ways we take care of ourselves is through boundaries. They help us keep out the riff raff and make space for the important people and things in our lives.

Setting Boundaries

NO ONE ever said setting boundaries is easy. Quite the opposite. It usually involves a lot of trial and error. In this conversation, we talk through our processes for learning to set better boundaries, using Nedra Tawwab’s book, Set Boundaries Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself as a guide.

Saying No & Resting

Setting good boundaries frees up time and energy. As easy as it is to make a laundry list of things we “could” do with the free time, it’s just important to rest. If you’re working 9-5, we advocate taking ALL your vacation, sick, even bereavement days. In this conversation, we talk about the power of saying no and rest.

Keep Some Things For Yourself

Despite what the internet would have us believe, we don’t have to share everything. Keeping some things for yourself always ensures we have a soft place to land with the people that really matter. In this conversation, we expand on an IG live between Luvvie and Myleik about their partners and why the are NOT a part of their platforms.

What are some of the boundaries that have helped you take better care of yourself? Comment on this post to let us know!
